Arbre de Vie, which means Tree of Life in French, conveys the wonders of the Shea tree. The tree, its fruits and nuts hold a vital role in regions of West Africa. Its butter, (also known as Karite butter) is renowned for its great benefits and has been used for thousands of years. Shea butter is a superb moisturizer that, when unrefined, also offers wonderful healing properties. This natural paste is at the root of all Arbre de Vie products.

We are two mothers who have enjoyed Shea butter for years to relieve dry skin and colds. When we realized most products on the market use refined Shea butter, we decided to share the wonders of the Shea butter in its organic state. We founded a company (called BKO Products) and launched Arbre de Vie, a line of natural products that embodies all the qualities of pure unrefined Shea butter.

Our mission is simple. To produce true pure Shea butter products. To offer the highest quality possible. And, to offer products that are "trans-ethnic" and work just as well for babies as they do for baby-boomers.

In order to benefit from all the wonderful healing properties of Shea butter, it must be used unrefined and this is the premise of Arbre de Vie - we use only pure unrefined Shea butter AND we use a lot of it. We import it from Mali, a country renowned for its high quality Shea butter.
